Help with sizing for overmantel mirror

We are finishing up the tail end of our restoration/renovation and are starting the hunt for an overmantel mirror. Our house is from the 1850s and while it retained its decorative plaster and marble mantels, sadly there are no mirrors. The mantel shelf is 60″ wide and curved so at the ends it’s only 2″ deep and the chimney is 85″ up to the crown moulding. What size mirror should I be looking for? Should the mirror cover the entire width of the chimney and reach up to the moulding? Anyone out there with an original overmantel mirror willing to share some photos and/or measurements? Any advice on styles? (Would love some input from Montrose Morris!)

Go to Build IT Green and purchase one of the over-sized deconstructed bathroom mirrors. Above mantel mirrors look great especially if they are over-sized and fit that space almost completely. I attached a pic of ours. I did not buy one of those over-sized mirrors because I cannot fit it into my car. The pictured mirror was the size limit for my hatchback. Are there other houses similar to yours on your block? If so, perhaps one of your neighbors has the original configuration intact and you could measure it.
