Help- Sizing ceiling medallions

We are in the last phases of a renovation and we need two ceiling medallions for the parlor floor. It is a floor through layout, with a kitchen in the back that is roughly 14 x 12 (keep in mind there are base and wall cabinets on either side) and the living area / dining room is roughly (25×12). How large of a ceiling medallions can be used from your view? We are leaning heavily toward the diamond styled medallions.

Great advice above regarding the sizes. Finding diamond-shaped medallions is tricky. For some reason, the round styles are easier to source. But try Felber Ornamental Plastering (felber.net). Their medallions are made of real plaster reinforced with fiberglass. They are created from molds taken from originals so they are true reproductions. They aren’t expensive but they are a million times superior to the polysterene varieties available at Home Depot.

There’s no formula–just pick what looks right to you. If you want guidance about historic accuracy try to look at the medallions of a neighbor’s house that’s part of the same row.
