Doors for Cellar arches
Hi there, We have a finished cellar that is attached to our condo in a brownstone. In the space behind the two brick arches there is a laundry room and a bathroom. We want to door off these areas for more privacy, but are having a difficult time figuring out how to do this. Has anyone else ever done something similar? We are very open to ideas….

If you are interested in something more attractive, retaining the arch rather than framing around it, I have photos I can share. I don’t seem to be able to upload them, but if you send an email to me at ambianceny@earthlink.net I will respond with the photos.

Easiest and cheapest would be to buy some standard size doors at HD that will work and then frame in the rest of the opening, including the arch at the top. It’s not that difficult to frame the arch simply by nailing 2×4 blocks to the top and then cutting drywall to fit. There are many types of new fasteners (and construction adhesive caulk) to fasten the wood to the brick
