Does anyone have any experience with this floating deck system? Thanks.

I used them in combination with footings on an 11 x 20 “floating” deck. The key with using these is you have to make sure that the surface underneath them is stable and compact. To do this I dug out several inches of dirt and then compacted that area with a hand tamper. I then laid down a layer of gravel and compacted that as well. The gravel allows for drainage around the blocks. You will also need to make sure that they are level with one another, which can be time consuming, especially if your area is very uneven. Basically, they are easy to use and with the proper care and time taken up front you can have a nice, stable deck.

I have a neighbor who used DEK blocks 3 years ago and the deck is great. He followed all the instructions online and built a 10 X 12 deck leaving 3 feet between the deck and neighbors fence. He explained the whole process and it seems straightfoward. I think he spent a month stockpiling the blocks by going to Lowes in the morning 2 times a week before work and transporting the blocks to the backyard. I know he used cedar from Dykes on 6th street.
