Decorative molding full of cracks - how to repair
In our vestible we have beautiful decorative molding that is full of cracks. And we are on a super tight budget. How do we repair it? Is this something that we can do ourselves? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

After you scrape the paint you may find that it’s not as bad as you thought. If you need to make repairs use a coat of Plasterweld to touch areas up. Prime and paint and you should be good to go.

We had this done a few years ago by a decorative plasterer who has since left NY, so I can’t make a referral. Besides removing the peeling paint he had to make some repairs to the molding–it was pretty painstaking work. Since it gets pretty cold between the two doors he painted with exterior paint, which has held up quite well.

That looks more like peeling/cracked paint. simply remove and paint it.
