Marjgreen you reallly should think before you open your mouth or move your fingers if people can afford reny in NYC. Who is going to deliver your food or prepare if? Those regulation are in place for reasons that obviously you do not and will not understand.

Rent control and rent stabilization only exacerbate the problem…they create artificial distortions in the market. Remove all rent regulations and then let the free market decide what the price of housing in NYC will be. If some people have to live in the outer boroughs or leave NY altogether so be it. Why should the taxpayers have to subsidize everyone’s housing? I can guarantee you that more apartments will be available because developers will have an incentive to build because they will get a better return on their investment. You also remove a useless gov’t agency (the Housing Authority) that produces nothing yet sucks up taxes. This attitude of entitlement needs to stop.

Yes, the forum is obviously the go-to place to have an informed, nuanced and detailed discussion about the merits of a 115-page set of proposals on affordable housing city-wide released minutes ago. OTOH, if the De Blasio admin is looking for a reliable plumber for all of this new housing, then this is, indeed, the place.
