clarity on single family house short term rental laws in Brooklyn?
As follow up to “short term rental laws for owner-occupied houses in Brooklyn?” post, I’m wondering if anyone knows where to find clear and reliable information on what short term rental laws are for single family houses (not multiple family dwellings) and how they deal with “boarders”. Been trying to find clear information with no luck. Thanks in advance.

You cannot put locks on doors of the rooms rented out, this creates an illegal rooming house situation. It is a fire code violation and few a other issues…. You can have short term paying guests if you are home at the time. Or you can rent the whole house to one party. There is a limit on the number of guests at any one time, before you need to register as a B n B. But I am not sure what that number is. Short term rentals of an apartment in a multiple dwelling is a different matter.
