Buying a Parking Spot in a Condo I Don't Live In
I’m interested in purchasing a garaged parking spot in a condo on my block. The spots were given to owners with the purchase price of the condo. I’m curious if there are any spots available and if so, would they sell it to a non-condo owner. I looked at the Buildings Dept site but couldn’t find the owner/developer in the sea of filings for the building (it was built about 4 years ago.) Any suggestions as to how to find the owner besides ringing a few doorbells at the building?

The spaces likely all belong to condo owners. If they were deeded with the condos (they could be common areas rented from the condo corp.), it would take an owner desperate for cash to sell you one, as they would be better off keeping the space with the unit for when they go to sell the unit. If they aren’t already separately deeded from the condo units, then maybe a unit would have to be reseeded into two separate parcels, the condo and the parking space, in order to sell it, if the condo even allows that. Your best bet will likely be to see if someone will rent you their space.
