  1. Are you asking how to engrave ot how to make the frame? Engraving witn a wood burning pencil or many other options available through craft stores and maybe Pearl.

You need a miter box and a saw to make the fram and a way to attach the corners. google about frames or “making frames” and you’ll find lots of options

  2. What you need is a miter saw…But why not just purchase a frame and then put all your effort into personalizing that. What ever happened to Mrs.Limestone? She used to know about these things.

  3. So when you say you are going to engrave things on it, what exactly do you mean?
If you’re going to make a frame yourself, that’s not a big deal, but the engraving might be a little more difficult, especially in something with distinctive growth rings like oak. Some parts of the wood will be much denser and this makes carving with something like a flex shaft or dremel much more difficult. You might want to look into a place called “Makeville”. They’re located in Brooklyn and have a class on basic table saw use, in which you end up making a splined frame. It’s going to end up being an expensive frame when all is said and done, but you will end up with some table saw skills, which you may or may not want.
