Special Inspections
Are the architects here now farming out all their progress/special inspections for anything but a 3 family house or less?..they keep changing the rules and did not enforce them before with regards to being a special inspection agency. I have a small restuarant renovation i have to make a few inspections on as an architect.

going to be a good business once they enforce it. All the insurance and certifications required will cut out ALL the
architects.
As of now it is not enforced but the paperwork has already been modified to be included on the second DOB mandates it.

we architects aren’t supposed to be doing special inspections anymore although some folks get around this by abusing the self-cert process. I think that most of us will still do progress inspections but you are supposed to be carrying a fair amount of insurance to so these which a lot of single practitioners really can’t afford with pressure on fees.
