We have a fire sprinkler in our house but we don’t know if it works. I’ve seen other posts about them but am unclear on how we’re supposed to get it checked out. Who do we call?

  1. For a two family home, you don’t need to file any Monthly inspections or do any flow tests. You just have to have the system checked and maintained periodically. We can do this for you….www.aladdinplumbingcorp.com

  2. it’s only a 2 family currently but a previous owner put in the sprinkler. there was a horrible fire a block from our place a couple weeks back so we’re suddenly interested in knowing if it works.

i can get a plumber but monthly tests and getting the FDNY sound overly complicated. is all that really necessary? we don’t have tenants.

  3. How big a house? I assume that this is a converted multiple dwelling. If this is the case, you need a monthly inspection by someone with a certificate of fitness from FDNY. The easiest way to do this is to learn about your system and take the test.

  4. If you use a licensed plumber, he should be able to check whether your sprinklers are working, answer your questions and perform monthly inspections, if necessary.
