What is necessary to install an air exchanger in a cellar in terms of power, location and external access?

Do they work well? Worth it?

We use our cellar for music – listening and playing and spend a few hours there at a time. We have a carbon monoxide and smoke detector but are looking for ways to improve air circulation.

Thanks.

  1. We recently installed one (airiva model) in our cellar with venting through the rear hatch. It was pretty straightforward, runs on standard 110V outlet power that we have set up to turn on when the light is on. You just need to think through the path of the vent pipes & placement of the vents. We optimized this using rectangular 2×6 (I think) vent pipes in one stretch that avoids material reduction in ceiling height. Also note that they are not silent – not noisy but depends on your tolerance (& perhaps effort to damp any vibrations).
