Anyone have/know about these units?
Seems pretty sweet.

We’re new to the window a/c population and research options for our first brownstoning summer.

  1. I bought 3 of these last spring – 10K, 12K and 20K, am very happy with all of them, and totally disagree with the noise comment above. They are extremely quiet for window units (all window units create noise) and about 1/3 as loud as the old Sharp POS units I used to have. They also look much better than anything else out there. The fan can throw a lot of cold air – the 20K unit can be felt 40ft away – so be careful not to oversize the unit for the room you want to cool or it will cycle on/off more often than you want, which IS annoying. The fan automatically adjusts its speed depending on the differential between room temp and setting, so after the initial blast, it runs at a pretty low speed and is really quiet. These are heavy suckers, so installation is a 2 person job. I also replaced the standard particle board flaps that come with the unit with wood, which makes a huge difference in reducing street noise infiltration, and compressor noise leakage coming out of the side of the unit (from outside).

I found them to be well worth the extra cash.

  2. CR rates it highly, but the sole user review reported that its quite loud esp when cycling, which is what the old ones sounded like.

But the old ones are true cooling beasts and my window unit is icy cold after 10 years.

I have another LG which is saw featured at HD, they aren’t quite as loud but produce an ungodly amount of condensation. A gallon a day or more on hot days.

I love the look of the Kuhls though.
