Im looking for shower faucets and I would like to install cross valve handles for hot and cold water.
They told me they are not in code as I need a thermostat or pressure balance valve.
Does anyone know if any cross handle valve for a shower comes with a thermostat?
And do i need both (thermostat and press. balance valve)?

  1. And to put my 2 cents worth in. Do NOT buy Price Pfister. It’s crap.
As MP has said. Go the route he suggested. It works fine. Just make sure you have access to the balancing valves in the wall or wherever you have them installed.

  2. MHome:

You’re getting quite a run-around from your supplier / vendor. Master Plumber is right: if your wedded to the fittings you’ve chosen, the pressure balancing device would be a separate part (probably made by a separate manufacturer) installed somewhere behind an access door in or near the bathroom.

Alternately, if it’s just the cross-handle style you’re seeking, lots of manufacturers make a cross-handle shower body that does everything you need in a single, code-compliant part.

    Good Luck!

  3. Sorry Master plumber.
    The faucet vendor responded:

‘Unfortunately there is not a pressure balance valve available for the two handle faucet. You would have to install a single handle unit in order to have a pressure balanced valve”.

    Is this true?

  4. do you have any reccomendation or specifications I can ask for when i go and purchase them?
I am looking to buy the Kohler Triton K-T7751 handles.
Any remote pressure balance valve is fine?
