Cost to Move Tub to 4th Floor
we’re renovating a brownstone in Park Slope and I bought 2 salvaged tubs. one needs to be brought to the 4th floor, the other to the 3rd floor. One guy quoted me $700 to move them from Harlem to the floors. Seems outrageous to me. Any suggestions for movers and/or prices?

They have to schlepp them from Harlem to Brooklyn, and up 3 & 4 flights? Sounds pretty good to me. You ever haul a cast iron tub up a few flights of stairs?
I have, many times. It’s “blood money”.
Those suckers are super heavy, espiecally those old clawfoot tubs.
As far as carrying sheetrock…..are you kidding me, comparing sheetrock to cast iron tubs?
I’m a medium sized Jew and I could carry two sheets of sheetrock by myself. Oh wait, I used to do that a long time ago too when I was a carpenters helper(circa 1977).
Go to the Home Depot on Hamilton Ave. and talk to the guys that hang out, looking for delivery/demolition work.
The fellow I have in mind, and I can’t recall his name, is a large Jamaican, whose nephew is even larger. Be patient and continue asking around. I’m talking about carrying two sheets of drywall up a flight of stairs by himself.
I would expect to pay about $200.00.
I got similar quotes to move appliances from 1 walk-up to another walk-up and the 2 locations were super close. they told me it was the damn stairs at both locations.
