I’m thinking about finishing my below-grade cellar to be a bit more usable. 1200sf, 8-foot ceilings, stone party walls and concrete floors. Any recs for best materials for sealing floors, pointing and sealing walls? I’ve seen poured epoxy cellar floors, which I liked a lot. What’s the best way to deal with the walls? I’d like the space to be usable as a sort of rec room/gym/ workshop type space, nothing fancy. Any contractor recs for this? Rough idea of costs? Thanks for suggestions.

  1. I was looking at self levelling epoxy just today. It is pourred over conrete subfloor. I love this black one here: http://www.liquidfloors.com/galleries/coatings/IMG_0056.jpg
That shiny floor with exposed stone wall would look excellent.

From what I read costs are not higher than tiling or other flooring solutions.
It might be an idea to just call a company for a quote.
They can tell you also if your existing concrete floor is ok, or needs to be redone. I googled “epoxy floor nyc” and there were quite a few companies.
