Matte PU to Try and Match Aged Low Gloss?

I’m trying to fix a stained section of our hardwood floor without redoing the whole room. The original PU was low gloss, but the shine has faded over time. If I use low gloss PU on the spot I fix it will stand out…is it reasonable to use a matte PU to match the worn low gloss? (I’m assuming they make a matte PU)
NYTimes had a terrific piece on this kind of project a few weeks ago – look in their archives.
How much time for the shine to fade? If it was just a couple years then the best bet is to use the same since it will soon match the old. 30 years, different answer.
