Ductless Heating/Cooling
We’d like to install a Mitsubishi City Multi system in our condo. The estimates we’ve been getting seem high.Could anyone out there who has had this done recently give a ballpark price?

We are aboout to embark on this process, either with multi zone mini splits or exposed duct central air for a 4,000 sq ft single floor. Could those who have been kind enough to describe their systems give some references and commentary on the contractors?
We thought about doing this when we bought the place in 2004 but could not then afford the $40-$45,000 estimates we were given for two zoned central a/c.
we did multi-zone mini split system when gutting bi-level apt. we used fujitsu. 2 compressors 24 and 36 btu. 2 zones in top floor, 3 zones in lower floor. came out to 15k.
landlord- who did your installation?
I installed 4 units in my 2 story wood frame house. The cost was around 8k.
I did my 3 story. 5 zones. Compressor on roof dunnage. $21K all in.
Mine was done as part of a complete reno so walls and ceilings were already open. Rocking in and access panels done by others.
We did it in our townhouse and it came out to about $10,000 a floor, including the top floor which had two zones.
You can go on line and price them yourself. Multi systems are up there in price. $4500? The install can be involved. You need electric run from the main. Electric needs to be run to each unit. Copper runs need to go from the outside to the inside units. You need drainage run from each of the indoor units. The outdoor unit needs to be mounted on a wall or on a concrete pad. If you want it done neat and clean with wires and pipes in the walls it may be worth it. The skill level is not too hard for this, it is not HVAC .
I got a quote of almost $10,000 for everything. This is during a renovation so all the damage to walls is being fixed in process. Make sure everything is included among the different quotes. Some installers won’t do the electric etc..
I love my splits and was glad I got it done.
