I have a prestige solo boiler that needs the lwco device replaced. I have bypassed the device with a paper clip for the time being, I am a pretty handy guy being a carpenter and am pretty confident I can change out this device ,I only want to drain the boiler not the whole system and is there any problems that could be encountered leaving the boiler bypassed for any period of time without the lwco device active. I am not sure how to isolate the system so I can only drain the boiler not the system, I will try and post a photo of the boiler and piping.

  1. Can someone reply back with why the LWCO fails? When I had the boiler installed, the company installed an expansion tank that was too small. The boiler kept shutting down cause the pressure was changing in the boiler due to not enough room in the expansion tank. When they installed a new and bigger expansion tank it still continued to shut down. Finally, after installing a bigger expansion tank which was now connected to the bottom of the tank (using gravity to help allow more pressure in tank) the boiler stopped shutting down. Now, 1 year later the boiler shut down and I believe a new LWCO is needed (boiler company hasn’t told me what new part was needed yet). Any ideas on why the LWCO went bad? Thanks so much.

  2. Geez is right. Listen to SteamMan. This is a first for me. Paper clip to bypass the LWCO. He needs a PS801-120 for the Prestige boiler..

  3. DO NOT BYPASS THE LWCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is seriously a bad thing. If you don’t know how to isolate your boiler from the rest of your system then you should realize this might be out of your league. Be a little humble man. Geeze, I’ll come over right now and do the job for you if you have the new LWCO there.

What you have done is dangerous and you are placing yourself and others at risk.
