I would like to get a custom gloss white dishwasher door panel to match IKEA Abstrakt White cupboards. Unfortunately, the Ikea standard panels are 1/8″ too wide. Can you pls recommend a fabricator who could do this? How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks

  1. HDL – thx also for your suggestion. Trust me I am not asking this because I have ignored some easy solution. We obviously didn’t intend to have to do this but now we have no alternative given placement of the oven next to a wall on one side of the dw & a sink on the other. I have no option but to get a non-ikea door. Any suggestions for fabricators?

  2. 1/8″? Without seeing your setup its hard to say but couldn’t you just space the cabinets on either side 1/16″ over? Or somehow make it up over the entire length of the island. If you’re talking about a dishwasher panel for a fully integrated model (Bosch, miele, asko etc.)it will typically extend beyond the unit on either side by a small amount. It seems as though you didn’t leave the appropriate room between the two adjacent panels. I am a huge fan of IKEA and someone who regularly customizes their products for my own kitchens (Just finished my 4th). This is why when using IKEA you begin your layout with the cabinets first, add a little construction tolerance, then set surrounding walls and finishes.

  3. Southslope – ok suggestion except the doors have a white laminate that goes across the front & around the edges, rounded at the corners. There is no way I can cut it (trimming 1/8″ off one side) and then replicate the edge because of loss of continuity. Would be fine if the door had wooden edges but no good in this case.

I don’t actually care if it doesn’t match exactly because it is the far side of the island but I do want consistent wrap around white gloss laminate.

    thx

  4. why not purchase the door panel, have it cut down, and then finish the edge? It will cost much, much less than having one fabricated that won’t even match identically- since a huge factory finishing line uses very different equipment than any shop in Brooklyn has.
