Hi brownstoners,

Just wanted to share my recent experiences with Steve at appliancesbuyphone.com, who someone else referred on this site. I cannot tell you how much money I have saved in purchasing appliances with him since he does not charge tax or delivery in NYC. His prices are also a little lower than Sears and are actually delivered by PC Richard and always the day after I order.

Secondly, for those of you doing high-end bath renovations, the Home Depot in BedStuy on the corner of Dekalb and Nostrand is running a 75% off floor sample sale on their high-end Kohler fixtures which are located upstairs next to the appliances. There is a lot of good stuff left there so if you want to upgrade your bathroom, now is a good time to do so.

  1. Just a quick caution: the fixtures Kohler sells to Home Depot are of lower quality than the ones you’d buy anywhere else. HD dictates price and Kohler makes quality compromises to comply. So even the “high-end” Kohler you buy at HD will have lower-quality innards. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy them, just know that you’re not necessarily getting a deal when you get a low price.
