I’ve had the same crew of workers in my house for 8 months and we’re almost done. Guys are pausing over the holidays but coming back after New Year. Is it inappropriate to give them a small bonus on their last pre-Christmas day?

  1. I would save the bonus for if/when they finish the project on-time and on-budget.

  2. Silvermax, As someone with multiple gift cards wasting away, may I strongly advocate cash? No one is going to turn up their nose at a gift card but cash is just easier.

  3. Thanks, guys. I had been thinking cash and clementines, but gift cards are an idea too. Very helpful.

  4. as a former contractor, perhaps one of my favorite holiday situations was when the lady we had been doing some ongoing rennovations just before christmas had a platter of sandwiches and several two liters of soda delivered to the home the last day of the job prior to the holidays ( we too were returning after a week) and when i called to thank her, she also told me where to find some cards for each of the crew that had small gift cards in them. Her small token of generosity came back to her five fold in the way the crew bent over backwards to go the extra mile for her

  5. Inappropriate? On the contrary, quite appropriate, especially for a crew you appreciate who’ve been working in your house so many months.
