best brands for hot water heaters?
We need to replace the hot water heater in our brownstone. Unlike, say, stoves, I know nothing about the most reputable brands in hot water heaters. Any suggestions?

If your heating water for a four family consider a Teledyne Laars Mighty Therm2 water heater with a 119 gallon storage tank. You’ll never run out of hot water and the cost won’t break the bank. Laars has a program that will size it perfectly for you. It’s never let me down. Although I don’t think it’s available to the general public.
Our 55 gal AO Smith water heater died this summer- when we removed it we noticed the date it was installed -about 17 yrs I believe.. not bad we thought.. so we replaced w/ another, larger AO Smith (75 gal I think).. runs great, very efficient..
I am thinking of installing of a steam or oil heating instead a Mitsubishi multi-room ductless air conditioning heat pumps – Cooling and heating for each unit in my buiklding. cheaper and can be billed per unit. It is more energy efficient and can take any cold apparently.

If you get a tankless, does it supply to all? e.g. to showers, sinks, etc. on all floors?
Also Lochinvar
I second AO Smith. They have a good residential warranty policy as well.

Get rid of the tank and switch to tankless. You will love it. Mine is Paloma and it has worked great for 5 years now.
Also, any thoughts on whether a single AO Smith 50-gallon is as good as 2 standard 50-gallon gas tanks?
