Old Appliances
We are currently renovating a 5 apt. brownstone and have old kitchen appliances and a washer dryer. Any recommendations on the best way to get rid of them? Perhaps a scrap metal company? They are too old to reuse and I would love for them not to just end up as landfill. Suggestions? Thanks

we also did craigslist (don’t post for free, too many wackos, just make it $20), works like a charm, they will take it ALL the way out for you, which saves work too.
I can take it for free

I put a stove on craigslist for a give it away price and got hit with almost 50 offers, some within minutes. I gave to the guy with the best story.
When I pulled out ’80s vintage cheap appliances I put them out front with signs saying “Old Works Free” and within a couple of days they were gone.
Yes, Build It Green.
How old are they? If you have a 1950s stove, they are highly desirable. Same with 1920s refrigerators.
I think there is still Obama $ out there that gives you money off purchase of select categories of new energy star appliances but you have to show proof that you traded in the old ones. Plenty of info on the Internet.
it is very unlikely that they will get thrown in the landfill nowadays. Call a few scrappers. If you can put the items curbside, they will usually haul for free.
When you buy the new ones, have them remove the old ones.
Build it Green. Or…there are some used appliance places around Brooklyn. You can just google them. I forgot where they are exactly. I know that one is in Williamsburg.
