Needed: Wallpaper Hanger and Upholsterer
I am looking for recommendations for a local Brownstone Brooklyn-based (or nearby) wallpaper hanger and an upholsterer to do small jobs (i.e., papering a 13 x 25 foot dining room above the wainscotting and upholstering two chairs). Please indicate whether you have had a satisfactory experience with the individual(s) recommended. Thanks.

I used DAS Upholstery on Cortelyou Rd. in Flatbush for several pieces and was very pleased. Friendly and professional, and nice work. He’s close to the subway if you don’t know the neighborhood well.
I had much success with Dow+ Company for paperhanging (2006), reachable at dowcompany@aol.com. For upholstery, good work from DAS Upholstery in Ditmas Park, 718-284-1079.
Spencer on Myrtle at Hall has done two upholstery jobs for me, and I have been quite pleased with the results. It is the kind of place you go by and talk to him about the job (with a photo) and he will give you an estimate. We used fabric from his sample books, but I assume you could bring your own.
We used Manhattan-based Lore Decorators to reupholster a set of dining chairs and were very heppy with the work.
