I’ve called 7 plumbers recommended on Brownstoner and all are too busy with heating issues to deal with my little job! I have an antique sink and faucet which need to be hooked up. They are being changed to use modern pipes, etc. at a shop. (I don’t know the correct terminology for the parts being upgraded.) The faucet may not be usable in which case I’ll want to have a new one installed in an existing hole or holes in the countertop. The hole(s) can be enlarged by the carpenter as necessary. Also need dishwasher installed and gas line capped.
I’m flexible on the timing of the work but need it finished within a short time of being started so I’m not without a sink for long. There may need to be some plumber prep work needed before the contractor installs the cabinets and countertop with sink. Coordinating the work is going to be the toughest part of the job.
This shouldn’t be that difficult to explain but I’m too tired to make it more clear. I think it would be a DIY job for many but I would like to have a licensed plumber do it.
Not sure if we were one of the Companies that you called, but if you call our office and ask to speak with me, I will be happy to discuss your project. Our schedule definitely has heating calls that are priority at this time of year, but let’s see if there’s something we can do to help you. Mention this post when you call a speak with someone. If I’m not if the office, please leave a message and I will call you back.

Thanks for the responses.
Mopar, it’s the ancient drain that needs to be replaced, not the sink. The sink is undermounted and the ancient faucet goes into two holes in the ancient countertop. There is another hole in the countertop near one corner of the sink. I really don’t want to make more holes for a newer faucet and hope the old faucet will work, although it’s not very practical. I’m willing to live with the inconvenience because I fell in love with the sink and countertop and made an impulse decision to get them, along with used kitchen cabinets, and redo kitchen.
Result of impulse is that I’ve been living with the counter (12′) and cabinets in my living room for 3.5 mos. A few cabinets are sitting in the kitchen along with a combo microwave/convection countertop oven and a one-burner induction hot plate, plus my old fridge. The old sink is supported by some pieces of lumber. Luckily, as it turns out, those are all the kitchen appliances I need!
Anyway, it’s been any interesting time and I hope it all comes together eventually!
Sorry for the long post – I guess I just felt like venting!
Give Paul a call at 917 968 4304. He’s a great guy that I’ve used several times from a faucet hookup to a main-valve replacement two weeks ago. He’s a solid, honest guy who works with his father and will give you a quality job at a very fair price. If you do call, pls let him know that Jesse from 3rd street recommended him. Good luck!
Is this a kitchen sink? As far as I know there is no need to modify the sink. You buy the correct faucet for the sink, and then you worry about the correct connection to the existing plumbing.
Having used both licensed and unlicensed plumbers for jobs such as these, I think you are right to call a licensed plumber. Also this job does not sound all that small. I mean, it’s not huge but it’s not like you’re just changing the washer on a faucet. Maybe wait till January if necessary?
I would certainly want to have a licensed plumber cap a gas line.
I don’t know where you are located, but Nu-Lite of Maspeth has been helpful to me. They are also my heating oil supplier, however.
Call a handyman, or ask the shop where you’re getting the sink modified for a recommendation. Why would you need a licensed plumber? You already found out that the recommended ones are too busy for your small job.
