I just discovered that I have a bedbug problem in my apartment. I don’t think it’s an infestation at this point but I know I can’t leave it up to my own efforts. And needless to say I had a difficult time sleeping last night. I’ve also heard about stories of unscrupulous extermination companies so I thought to ask if anyone could recommend an exterminator?

  1. I am taking precautions. I’m sure someone else’s carelessness may be how I got them in the first place!

I’m having an exterminator come by at the end of the week but two people informed me that the owner is responsible for the extermination. Is this true? It’s a brownstone of course and not under Section 8 nor a subsidized rental/rent control. And if the owner is not responsible, are they at least responsible to exterminate the other two floors in the brownstone?

  2. Freezing doesn’t work.

    Heating works but is expensive.

    Chemicals work but are chemicals.

Google “Boot A Pest”. He’s your man.

ps if you have a bug you have an infestation. Please take precautions not to spread to the rest of the world while you decide.

  3. Stern Environment Services use freezing machine. So very little chemicals involved. Several people from this side mentioned their services. I would suggest call the guys and do what they say and watch what he does. Next time you will have the problem – you will know what to do.
