Hey All,
We’re looking to begin a big kitchen renovation, which involves moving the oven from one side of the room to the other. Our contractor is planning on extending the existing gas pipe from it’s original source through the wall, and around to the other side of the kitchen.
Do we need a permit for this kind of thing?
Many thanks,
Molly

  1. If you would trust your contractor to replace one stove with another (turn off gas, unscrew flexible tube, swap appliance, rescrew tube, turn on gas, turn on pilot), you should trust them to extend the gas line as well. All it takes is screwing on a one more secion of black pipe and slopping some pro dope into the threading. Yes a permit is required, but in a case like this it is overkill.

  2. There is a possibility that a LAA application will suffice which is a cheaper version for your permit but a permit is definitely required.
