We converted last year to a hot water heating system, everything was working great last year. We turned on our heating system for the first time this season and things seem to be working fine for half an hour. Then I noticed the baseboard was cool to the touch but the thermostat was not as our desired temperature. I went to the boiler room and noticed a puddle of water on the floor. Looking closely at the burner, the leak seems to be where I marked the arrow. is this serious or a quick tightening of nut on the pipe?
Anyone have any recommendation of plumber?
Just to give you guys an update, it was not the flange bolts. The problem was the taco circulator seal (looks like a rubber band) broke. Thanks for all the advice.
Who installed your boiler/burner? Didn’t they give you a warranty? Just for goodwill, they should fix your leak and refill your system.
if you want a free consultation, you can email me at errol832000@yahoo.com, but i can tell you in advance that my advice will be to hire a heating technician, myself or others, to refill the system and get the air out…you will end up doing more damage than good if you start messing around if you are that unknowledgable
My video was about a steam heating boiler. You’ve got circulating hot water.
To tell you the truth, if you’re that green about this kind of thing, I recommend you call someone in who can set you up properly. It’s easy to make a mess of these things.
Thanks for the advice, I will try tightening the flange bolts. Sorry to sound like an idiot but since I cut the water value off and drain all the return water (source of leak) to stop the leak. I don’t see the valve to refill it up as in the Master Plumber video, theres no glass tube indicator. This is the Burnham series 2. Weird
after you tighten the flange bolts, set the temperature up and bleed all the air out of the radiation, since it is probably full of air
Not serious at all. Just tighten the two bolts on that flange where the leak is. Try that and hold off on calling a plumber.
