After many tries, I’m not getting my boiler to fire up. Like I do every year, I gave it a good flush, set the thermostat, lit the pilot and flipped the on switch. Nothing. The pilot is staying lit, and power is going to the boiler. Not sure what else I can try before calling in a professional. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any advice on who to call for a problem like this? Is this plumber territory, or more likely an electrical problem?

  1. To be clear: CO2= carbon dioxide. CO= carbon monoxide.
You’ve got CO detectors in your home.

And if you’ve got to reset your CO detector, it’s because a LOT of carbon monoxide got into your home. Never mind what the detector picked up.

  2. I’m going to suggest something really dumb.

Check the emergency power off switch near your cellar door (if you have one). Make sure it’s not switched off.

  3. Question for Mr. B.

How is it that eman1234 can outright solicit work on this forum but if I so much as put my e-mail address up to invite discussion on a subject or answer a question off forum, my comment never gets posted?

    Hrmmmmmmm….

sour grapes against the protocol not eman….

  4. Wow. Thanks for the feedback. I can definitively say YES. There is water in the boiler. To everything else, words words words. When I go home tonight I’ll try to make sense of some of these suggestions. However, I fear I’m way out of my depth. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  5. Tough to troubleshoot without being there.

It’s a matter of checking through the limit circuit to see where continuity is broken. Might be your LWCO isn’t being made. Could be a bad roll-out switch, damper end switch…quite a few things…

Do you have water in the boiler?
Check that then call a plumber.

    Good luck.
