Bad Experience with Anderson Renewal

We just had a representative, his name was Peter, from Anderson Renewal windows (the Long Island branch) come to give us an estimate. The salesman told us we HAD to purchase the windows right then and there or we would pay a higher price later. We were quoted 9K, and when we told him we had to think about it, he made us feel bad that he drove all the way out here (to Brooklyn). We definitely had to think about a 9K investment, but he kept pressing the issue that if we signed right then and there, we would save 2K. He also blamed this price difference on “all these new things coming out of Washington”. There were a few other times he showed his conservative political colors.
When it was clear we were not going to sign a contract, Peter called his manager (on my phone- his was not getting reception) and told him we were not going to buy the windows. He held the phone out to let us hear his boss say (yell), “tell them we are never coming to their house ever again.” I asked for my phone back from Peter and told his boss not to worry, they never need to come back. Peter left immediately after. My husband then called his boss back to clarify what happened. My husband was then yelled at and told that we would NEVER have Anderson windows in our house and he, the boss, would see to it. Well, I am not sure we want Anderson windows in our house now.
Tom Byrnes at buiilders distributor would gladly help you though you process of getting the windows you want when you make your mind up to do so. 800 564 4206 approvedwindowsales.com
We just purchased Andersen Renewal for our house, but had been forewarned about the hard-sell tactics. We told him we needed to sleep on it, and ended up negotiating another 2K off the price and getting a screen upgrade over the following week. The install went quick and was well-done. They’re a great product, just ignore the sales pressure. They aren’t actually going to charge you more than quoted on-site if it means losing the sale.

We purchased windows twice from Window Palace and they were always prompt with delivery. We never had a problem with the sales people.
Word of caution: Don’t go to Window Palace. I had a horrible experience there. It is a long complicated story but the upshot was that the “salesman” was supposed to be processing our order (8 windows), and gave us an estimated delivery schedule, weeks went by, we kept calling and there was some excuse after another, then after the place was closed for 11 days during the jewish holidays (it is an orthodox business), we called and were told that our sales person had left the company. The person who took over our order said that (and I am quoting), “there is nothing in the file”. STAY AWAY from Window Palace
Wow! For five windows!!!! That’s way too much.
Does that price not seem high? That’s $1800 per fairly small window? (I really don’t know).
About my political comment- HIS bringing HIS political views into a business inquiry to the customers was what was innappropriate, not necessarily his politcal leanings. I don’t care what he thinks, believes in, or who he votes for, prays to – I just didn’t want to deal with politics when I am talking to a window salesman. It was not my intention to make it seem that only a conservative would do such a thing.
Hello Everyone,
Thanks for the validation! They quoted us on 5 windows, averaging 32 x40. And one was a small bathroom window.
