Antique Entry Door Hardware/Lock Repair
I love the hardware on my entry door, but the lock doesn’t work (interior knob turns, but the lock doesn’t slide in or out)and the tongue (?) doesn’t go in and out when you turn the knob. Also, the handles on the stationary door do not work and actually aren’t even attached to the door….

Thanks!
Did you try Fifth Avenue Key Shop? They’re the real thing went it comes to locks and doors. I’m sure they’ll give you a fair assessment of what your options are. They’re mentioned on this forum and they did a great job fixing our entry door about 3 months ago
You’ll find them at:

Spectacular!
If you pull the mortise lock out, measure it, and you can probably find the same on Ebay or at a salvage yard to replace it. We did that with several old doors lately and they work great. Easier than fixing the existing one maybe…? And cheaper than buying a new mortise.
One of the guys who works for Roy (New York Old Iron, Lowe’s parking lot at 9th St. entrance) can repair these. Also, at least one person at 5th Ave. Key on 9th St. has the experience to do the work at your premises. Whether removed or repaired in place, these locks are very temperamental about cleaning and repair.
You can replace the mortise set (the guts) keeping the decorative hardware.
