Advice on Wood Window in Shower
Our apartment came with a wooden stained glass window in the bathroom/shower. The window does get wet from the shower. I recently had the window reframed and have been getting different advice for the best way to seal the wood — tung oil, polyurethane. Looking for some advice and thanks in advance.

You might consider Waterlox…three or four coats (bottom two original, top one satin. Easy to refinish every few years; just sand w/400 grit. It’s a little less plasticky than spar varnish. Our bathroom has lots of oak trim and it hasn’t suffered much damage in the 100 years people have been bathing there.
the most important thing would be to construct the wood frame so that water slides off with gravity, rather than sitting on a shelf of wood. And then keeping the joints caulked. Tung oil is not a good idea.
could you hang a shower curtain on that side to cover when the shower is on?
marine grade poly. 3-5 coats initially. Lightly sand between coats, and re-coat every couple of years.
I’m no expert but our wood refinisher used a marine varnish on those parts of our windows exposed to the elements. I would hope if it works on boats it would work on the shower.
