Maintenance of Concrete Countertops
A few years a go I had white concrete countertops installed. Over the years they have developed several stains and a few chinks in them. Is it possible to do restoration work on something like this? Has anyone done it? Can anyone refer someone who does that kind of work?

I have a custom concrete countertop. please contact Anthony 347-307-4725. He has done a wonderful job and i am very very please with it. He is not expensive, yet very very good. good luck!
I have no experience with the epoxy sealer idea. I am concerned about health consequences, and that it will be like a coating changing the look and feel.
I think you should “Let concrete be concrete.” I would try to lift any really ugly stains out with a poultice of absorbent particles and paint stripper. Cover with plastic over night, keep off your hands and keep away from painted surfaces. Keep the windows open. Is it possible that less dramatic stains could become part of the charm and character of your counters? If so, try rubbing a water based sealer in like Aqua Mix Sealer’s choice Gold, about $90/gallon. It claims “Expected wear…up to 15 years…” qualifications… You can reapply every few years. You can also use paste furniture wax or bees wax, with more frequent reapplications, but you should test this first to see if it is what you will be happy with.
I am not available to do this for you now, but maybe some time in 2011. 718-858-1853 aaron@gmcandd.com
its kind of a catch22. you may be able to treat stains chemically, which might leave you with some cleaner looking spots on the countertop. concrete is a great material for chipping or staining but don’t despair, a good epoxy surface sealer will help prevent
