Aah if not one thing it’s another. 7yr old Frigidaire Gallery front loader making horribly loud rattles on spin. Spins quietly if empty. Expert Repair charged 75 to say “bearing can’t be fixed, buy a new one”.

Anyone know if true before I wait hours on the manuf. customer service line to see if they will fix? ExpSer briefly checked all other suspension componenets.

  1. When we were renovating our home back in 2005 we purchased all Frigidaire appliances because that’s all we could afford. They are crap!! My front loader is acting up after having been repaired already last year. The dishwasher starting leaking because the door seal is screwed up.

I bought myself a Bosch d/w and Kenmore w/d for the house I’m now selling. They have never given me problems and feel sooo much more solid. I wish I could just switch appliances, but it’s too late for me now. Save yourself! Never buy Frigidaire!

  2. Although it may cost a few more dollars it may be easier to just buy a new one. The headaches that you will avoid may be worth the extra money.

  3. 4 years! I feel your pain, tsarina! Guess it’s time to shop.

Maybe I’ll go Miele or Bosch this time.

    Thanks, all.

  4. Same thing happened on my Kenmore front load washer after 4 yrs. Had maintenance agreement and still waiting for final condemnation 5-6 months after initial service call. Dont use Sears Repair.

  5. BTW the quote they got for a repair was so close to the price of a new unit, they were told to just buy a new one. So your guys at Expert Repair are on target.

  6. Cripes – My parents just had to replace their front loading Fridigaire after 7 years too. Here is the reason: The aluminum drum is supported by a steel spider shaped support arm in back. We all know alum and steel corrode upon extended contact. Well guess what, the frigidaire’s warranty is 5 years and the typical corrosion process is about 6-7 years. Major design flaw or something more sinister? You decide.

FYI – Fridigaire and Whirlpool is the same exact product design under two names, so stay away from BOTH. My parents bought a Bosch replacement.

  7. I just replaced my Frigidaire after about 7 years of use. I guess it’s true, they just don’t build them like they used to. Curious to see if it’s just Frigidaire or other makes as well.
