Can someone please tell how to stop the rumbling noise that sometimes occurs when I turn on the faucet? It also happens when I or my tenants are showering. my brownstone was completely renovated last year and I have not had any major problems. Thank you

  1. I agree with pig three. Shadowhill, less so.
More likely, it’s a washer or disc that’s come loose inside one of the shut off valves or temperature balancing controls.

  2. It also could be that your plumber did not sufficiently strap your water pipes causing them to shake as you turn the water supply off.

  3. this could be caused by air getting into your plumbing system, try turning on all the faucets in the house fro 5 mins. Its also called water hammer, if thats the case you need a
‘water chamber’ or ‘water hammer arrestor’, these are available commercially
