Hi folks, I’ve been waiting a 1 month for a plumbing permit my plumber submitted to DOB to move gas line in my kitchen a few feet. I’ve noticed today it’s in PREFILED status, what does this exactly mean? It’s in prefilled status however it doesn’t indicate my personal info such as my name, apt, address and so forth. It just lists a LAA permit has been prefiled. So now what? do I wait for additional info? if I submit this to my coop board, how do they identify it’s me who’s filing this permit? Can someone please guide me? Any information would be immensely appreciated.
Okay brooklynexpiditer, so I went down to dob and spoke with this lady covering for Steve(the guy who normally handles the LAA permit window on 5th floor) and I was told after prefiling, it usually takes 6 weeks to get approved. I was pre-filed on 072610 so I can expect to hear something either an approval or rejection I’m thinking by end of August. I certainly hope the info she gave me is accurate. For some reason, I’m very distrustful of any folks down at the dob. My contractor never indicated that my gas line was supposed to be moved and once the building found out about it accidentally, the coop board placed stopped work order. It’s now been since beginning of June when the stop work order was placed. My kitchen was demo’d early June and I’ve just got one empty space with tons of holes in walls from electrical work that was done. No one anticipated this stop work order and clearly I had no such prior knowledge that this potentially could have happened. I am livid. If my contractor had indicated the gas line to be moved on scope of work, I’d still have my Old kitchen intact therefore waiting for permit approval to demo old kitchen and install new kitchen. Should I consider a lawsuit in small claims?
Two things possible.
1. Plumber pre-filed the application and a check was not submitted or accepted for some reason.
2. Application has been rejected for some clerical reason after pre-filing which is usually rare since the LAA clerks usually don’t file it at all.
You gotta check with the master plumber as in this stage the application is not to swallow not to spit.
Once it’s updated in filed status the plumber can do the work, perform / schedule inspections and get it signd off
