I must install a wall to divide my living room into both a bedroom and living room. I’d like a cheap option and pressurized wall that does not alter the integrity of the current walls. Does anybody know of a quality, but affordable option for this type of construction? I’ve lost my job so I must find a renter to make my mortgage… Craigslist has nothing…Thanks so much for any advice
Sometimes you can design your pressurized walls into bookshelves and it will definitely look great..
I got mine from http://allweekwalls.com/
For a great, landlord friendly alternative to pressurized walls, check out our product line of movable room dividers at http://www.idividewalls.com – our products are available in many sizes, configurations and colors and can suit any need you may have.
good wish to you
yes sorry, no more walls now they are called “bookcases”
It’s building and MDL and HMC code for minimum dimensions of width / length
Yeah, they NYT article last week “… city aggressively enforces a long existent but widely ignored code …” talked about the difficulty now doing what renters used to do all the time.

I called all these folks and they told me that most of what they do is now illegal. The only legal way to install a wall is if it doesn’t reach the ceiling and if it has no door… ugh. I’m afraid to ask my management company now because I truly need this room, but I don’t want to have to pay for a room and then have to take it straight down. NYC fire laws stink! Thanks for the recommendations still!
Thank you!
these are the only wall companies allowed by PanAm Equities, one of the biggest landlords in NYC.
The Living SPace – http://www.livingspaceinc.com
The NY Wall Company – http://www.thewallpeople.com
Manhattan Pressurized Walls – http://www.manhattanpressurizedwalls.com
Dr Wall NY – http://www.drwallny.com
this is a good idea, but make sure you use one of the companies above as you have to meet fire safety regulations.
