The actual text of the law is confusing to a layperson.
stupid crappy law and clashes with our paint colour.
time to move to texas and stock up on m16’s and no trespass signs on the property boundary line.
Anyone been getting reasonable quotes to do this job? any crappy tradespeople to stay away from?
Brings a whole new meaning to “better red than dead”
Just paint it all red to be safe… not to mention, it would be a statement!
If sprinkler and standpipe painting requirements apply to your property, you should be discussing compliance and certification with one of several professionals specified in the links that follow:

If what you mean by “exposed horizontal pipes” are the pipes with sprinkler heads periodically installed then these are the branch lines. Just to clarify. Or to make clearer. Sorta.
The horizontal branch lines do not have to be painted. However if the “riser”, the vertical pipe, has a horizontal component in it, it has to be painted red along with the rest of the riser.
