OLD Sidewalk Violaitons
Has anyone had the experience of buying a property with old unresolved sidewalk violations? I’d love to know what I’m in for. It doesn’t seem like a huge deal, as the sidewalk was apparently repaired. But as with all things involving the city, I’m sure there will be multiple flaming hoops of bullshit to jump…

It doesn’t seem like a huge deal, as the sidewalk was apparently repaired. But as with all things involving the city, I’m sure there will be multiple flaming hoops of bullshit to jump through to get anything done (this phrase is ripped off from another brownstoner…because it’s so spot on!)
If there is a lien it will come up on the lien book otherwise you will only have to deal with the violation. Th title report will show something so you can take it from there. I don’t think that these liens ever reached a four digit number
Thanks for your reply. The word from my attorney is that “they lost he books” on the violation. Also, he tells me the title company will exclude it, so I would be picking up the lien. Any further detail on what “small lien” might mean? These are from 1990 and 1992.
usually all you need to do is get a copy of the violations, take it to t DOT boro office (Brooklyn 16 court street 15th floor) gt a permit and they will re-inspect and remove it if corrected. Sometimes there may be a small lien as well which will usually get picked up by your title company
