Can someone please recommend a good system for lighting up a garden in the evening. It’s 55’X20′ and ideally I’d like both ends illuminated at night – enough to see by, not just a dim glow. Ideally, I’d like solar powered, but only if someone can recommend a type/manufacturer that works! Low cost as per usual.
Thanks.

  1. i just did a similar project myself over the weekend. Not sure if you’re talking about landscape lights or flood lights but we put in both. I just installed low voltage landscape lighting in my townhouse yard. Originally i thought i’d need an electrician etc but it was really so easy. All you need is a transformer to wire into and then the transformer just plugs into an outlet (we put ours in the house and then ran the wire outside through the wall but you can use an outdoor gfi outlet as well). I bought most of the supplies at HD and some of the fixtures online. It truly transformed my backyard!

here’s an article about it that was quite useful. http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/how-to/intro/0,,451473,00.html

  2. Don’t go with solar. you won’t be happy. The rechargeable batteries are expensive and don’t last long. The output is inferior. There are hundreds of low voltage easily installed systems out there all over the web and at home centers.
