Light/Basic General Contractor Work
I’m new to all of this. I’m new to all of this. Moving into an apartment where we don’t need anything major done, but do have a number of smaller items: painting (perhaps a bit of venetian plaster work or faux painting); removal of a cabinet anchored into the ceiling; installation of a medicine cabinet; 5 or 6 new electrical outlets requiring some basic rewiring; installation of an interior window in a non-load bearing wall; a new door or two; installation of crown molding; installation of a mini-split a/c unit; either some polishing and sealing of a concrete floor or installation of hardwood or cork flooring.
I was trying to arrange all of this using various people, but it has been a headache. I would much prefer some one-stop shopping (though i may use a separate company for the a/c).
So, any recommendations for some quality, reasonably priced people/companies would be very much appreciated.
Perrone Construction did a wonderful job renovating my bathroom and refinishing our wood floors. I dealt directly with Don Perrone, the owner, who was more than accommodating to our needs. The entire job cost $12,500, which was exactly what Don quoted us. I highly recommend.
Basic electrical wiring, i.e., adding receptacles, switches, pulling a new line for a switch leg are basic handyman stuff.
I’d go with Avery Collins. Give him a call and he will come over and give you a very fair estimate. 347-321-5537
thank you all very much!
Julio Bonete is my go to guy for stuff like you posted. He’s my maintenance (contractor) person for my brownstone in Windsor Terrace. I’d recommend him in a heart beat and his prices are extremely economical. Only thing is the guys always busy because he’s good, honest, and cares about the quality of his work.
His info is as follows:
Julio’s cell – 718-781-9904
His website – http://www.boneterenovation.com
Best,

Check with Gavin Young Maloney. He advertises here. We used him to create some custom bead board to match some existing. He’s very nice. He has a contractor’s license and has been doing fine woodworking and cabinet making for years. He does electric and plumbing. He can do all this stuff.
thanks. a handyman can generally do electrical work like the installation of new outlets and some rewiring?
Having similar stuff done now(not the mini-splits, however, heard it’s really expensive)… will let you know in couple days if the guy’s any good!
Good question – I’ve been trying to find a reliable handyman to do similar work in my place, with no luck. Any suggestions people have would be appreciated.
