Price for Baseboard
I’m looking to have about 300 linear foot of baseboard / casing installed in my brownstone as part of a larger job. What is a fair price for removal of old base, supply and install of MDF 2-3/4″ colonial base and finishing with caulk and paint? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You can get some MDF base molding at the two major suppliers for about $2/ft. Expect to pay the same amount for installation(ie. $4/ft)
MDF molding is fine as long as you keep moisture away. I wouldn’t use it in a bathroom or kitchen, or anywhere else that may get wet. A nice part of working with MDF is that it’s more flexible then solid woods, which means it can follow “waves” in the wall if you have them.
We don’t work with MDF, so I can’t help you with that.
Why don’t you consider more substantial wood baseboard?
If the project is in any historic district, a modern tiny baseboard is, IMHO, a shame.
Consider 5/4 poplar, thicker and taller, with a colonial cap of comparable size. We fabricate these materials and have found them the same or less expensive than manufactured dreck. Two moldings can conceal far more irregularities than MDF bent around obstacles.
