My landlord’s policy through Allstate for a 2 family has shot up 18% this renewal for no apparent reason. Can anyone recommend an agent or company for a reasonable landlord policy.

  1. That Fulton Street one is my current insurance company. I went with them after Allstate dumped me. Rodney Shannon is the broker. I think I dealt with an Ellen?? They’re good.

  2. Dave,
The only Fulton St. office I could find was:
1950 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY‎ – (718) 221-2900‎ and no Sylvia there. Any further info. Thanks again.

  3. Thanks, Dave. Will call and let you know. At the risk of sounding dopey, I had to search for my original post as it did not come up on the usual page display. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks again.
Also calling William Smoltino as per above.

  4. This happens. Sometimes carriers are looking to pull out of a certain area, so instead of non-renewing you, they make the premiums high enough that you will most likely go elsewhere. Other times, they realize that they priced the original premium too low, so they re-set the rates. If you’d like, I am an independent broker with access to 20+ companies. I can shop the property to see if you can get better pricing with another company.

  5. Ours went up, too. Something in the 20-25% range. Fireman’s Fund. Broker said there was some kind of regulatory change allowing for a fee bump. It could be everyone is getting this kind of increase this year. Can anyone confirm?
