I’m looking for a decent wood flooring installer. I’m currently bidding out a renovation that includes a new concrete subfloor (basement) and 3/4″ solid wood floor. I am wondering if it is more cost-effective to remove the wood floor from the project and have an independent installer come in after and do the entire house (3 levels plus hallways/stairs).

So I’d like to get a bid direct from the horse’s mouth (I’m aware these businesses are sub-contracted by the GC anyhow) and see where I’d come out on this. Any suggestions?

  1. Stay away from RMD flooring. They missed staining spots, ruined the quarter round which they were supposed to replace, and sanded but completely forget to stain and finish the area under the appliances.

  2. Try Carlos from Inti Interior Finish. Carlos was recently on his own at Carlos Wood Floors but he’s now partnered with Inti Interior Finish. He is extremely reasonable and does excellent work – pricing is fair. Here is a link to some of his recent projects…
