My next door neighbor just had a Direct TV antenna installed right on the front of his house (he was too lazy to get a ladder to enable the installer to get up to the roof apparently). It looks terrible of course. Does anyone know if there is any regulation prohibiting this? We are not in a historic district.

  1. “Sometimes antennas can become dislodged or fall off by things like high winds, falling branches, or maybe flying rocks…”

    love it.

And yes rob, I would rather see a ferris wheel. This is just laziness.

  2. There’s a dish near us that was installed *inside* an apartment, right behind the window. I assume it must work, but it’s pretty weird.

  3. I’ll just have to deal. It’s not as though this house looks too great in other respects. I was just wondering if there was a rule because I don’t think I’ve actually seen one on the front of a building before. My neighbor must be extraordinarily lazy.

BTW, before choosing the front of building route, he asked my husband if we had roof access. My husband said no, because we don’t have a hatch. We get up on our roof with a ladder. The neighbor did not ask to borrow a ladder OR warn us that his only alternative was to place it on the front of the house.

  4. If there is the name of a provider (Dish/DirecTV) on the face of it you might be able to make a fight to say that it is an advertizing billboard without a permit.
