Slate Tile - Color Uniformity

i was introduced to this ceramic tile called durastone which is a uniform color across all the tiles, but i’d rather have slate if i can get the uniformity.
also, i’m thinking 16×16 instead of 12×12.
thoughts in these two issues?
tks!
ok, well i’m glad i’ve confirmed that the uniformity characteristic is pretty much impossible to achieve with slate.
btw, does the slate floor need to be sealed for protection? and if so, how often does that need to happen?
Well, the stuff we bought from them is a medium green and it is all pretty uniform in color. It has been about 2 years since it was put down. We may have bought extra and only used what was close in color. If you want unifrom then I suppose something manmade is the way to go.
I think the whole reason of picking slate or other natural stone is because you like the variations in color. Even if you got tiles cut from a pretty uniform slab, it probably won’t be as consistent as you like. I’d go for the durastone or something similar.
u know, i went to classic tile today and the guy there is the one who introduced me to the durastone because he said slate difficult to get in uniform color.
and just to be clear, when i say uniform, i mean every tile being the exact same color…not that each tile has uniform color. not a fan of floor looking like checkerboard of different shades. i want the entire floor to be a single consistent shade.
i’m in contact with a vendor in virginia (metropolitan tile depot), who has a warehouse in NJ. he said given my sq footage, he can cut from a slab that has consistent color so that all the tiles come out very close to one another.
we’ll see.

I bought mine from classic tile. Very uniform. I think they have an ad on the forum.
