Removing Oil Tanks
I have two 275gl oil tanks in basement (above the ground). I need to remove them from the house before my plumber can open permit. Tanks have ~70gl of oil left inside. Can anybody refer somebody who will remove these tanks cheaply.

Cutting up a tank is a nothing job when it goes right, when it goes wrong watch out. I had a problem when removing a tank legally, the Fire Department was called, who in turn called NYS Hazmat. The oil had been pumped out of the tank, and the inside of the tank had been washed out before they started cutting it up, but if Hazmat had found oil it would have been expensive to remedy.
I used this company to have a tank removed on white ceramic tiles and they did it perfectly without creating a mess. Highly recommend them!
Oh, that’s lower than the quotes I got from my GC of $1000, but I don’t know the size of my tank.
Here’s an outfit that does it –

You’ll need some fire marshall paperwork to make it kosher.
Would be $500 per tank / $1000 for the 2.
Haven’t used them, but I’ve got 2 x 275 gal tanks and was thinking about this as part of a conversion to a gas boiler.
actually I can find somebody who will take the tanks away. I need to get the 70gl of oil out. I thought to burn it out completely by the end of the season but the thing stopped working after oil got that low.
So if somebody can take the oil from the tanks I can take care of the rest.
Start calling around to the various companies that deliver oil. You’ll find that most of them do this work. They drain the oil and cut them up. It’s not as dangerous as it sounds.
