I am not sure what this plant is……but it is one of the few nice ones around our house. It’s in front where a big plumbing tunnel is about to be dug. Can this plant be transplanted? Any advice?
Thanks in advance

  1. Well, even without a picture, I’m going to hazard a guess… almost any plant can be transplanted pretty easily, unless you’re talking about a huge 10 foot+ tree or something. And even those can be moved and transplanted. Side note: my parents have a magnificent 30′ magnolia in their yard, and they get serious offers from people who want to buy it, dig it up, and move it to their own yards.

Anyway, the key is to take enough of the root system AND surrounding dirt to move to the new location. Even if you’re only moving from one side of the yard to the other, depending on drainage, sunlight, etc the soil conditions might differ. Taking sufficient dirt from its current home can ensure that it stays happy in its new hole.
