Brownstone Steps & De-Icer
hey there is there a kind of de-icer for deicing brownstone steps in the winter that is less harmful to the masonry? i know that in general, these products have chemicals in them that take away everything in its path, including the steps… just curious if there’s a kinder, gentler version out there. thanks!

One of my clients in Boston uses it on their Travertine. I would make sure the company feels it will work.

If you must use a chemical you could consider Calcium Cloride. But sand is definitely the harmless option.
you can use sand… not great on the interior, but it’s nice for the trees.
